Executive Summary
Current digital advertising models rely on fragile metrics such as impressions, clicks and views — all easily manipulated by farms, bots and artificial traffic. This whitepaper introduces PoR-Ads (Proof-of-Recurrence Advertising Protocol), the first advertising system based on certified temporal recurrence, derived from the symbolic-temporal architecture of the XChronos project.
PoR-Ads leverages:
- Proof-of-Recurrence (PoR) to validate significant temporal patterns,
- Hexacronon Score (HXS) to measure recurrence strength,
- Chronons and Hexacronons as units of meaningful attention,
- Autocronon Detection Layer (ADL) to filter genuine engagement,
- Hexa (ɧ) as a post-speculative settlement asset.
The result is a fraud-resistant advertising model based on voluntary user return, symbolic significance and time — replacing the traditional CPC model with the Recurrence Value (RV) model.
1. Introduction
Contemporary digital advertising suffers from three systemic limitations:
- Fragile signals: clicks and views rarely indicate genuine interest.
- Structural fraud: estimates show that ~40% of ad traffic is artificial.
- Behavioral manipulation: systems optimize impulsive actions rather than meaningful engagement.
PoR-Ads addresses this by replacing short-term metrics with certified temporal recurrence. What matters is not a click, but a human returning voluntarily, validated through semantic recurrence.
2. Theoretical Foundation
PoR-Ads is built upon the core constructs of the XChronos Framework:
2.1 Chronons
Minimal units of meaningful subjective time.
2.2 Hexacronons
Temporally recurring symbolic patterns.
2.3 Hexacronon Score (HXS)
Continuous metric quantifying recurrence strength.
2.4 Proof-of-Recurrence (PoR)
Formal mechanism for validating temporal recurrence.
2.5 Hexa (ɧ)
Symbolic, post-scarcity token issued only via certified recurrence.
2.6 ADL (Autocronon Detection Layer)
Cognitive-depth filters ensuring non-mechanical engagement.
3. Limitations of CPC and CPM Models
Traditional advertising models measure:
- impressions,
- clicks,
- views,
- superficial retention,
- scrolling,
- synthetic interactions.
These signals are extraordinarily vulnerable to:
- bots,
- proxy networks,
- click farms,
- automated scripts,
- AI-generated traffic,
- compulsive behavior induced by algorithms.
CPC and CPM are, by design, non-trustworthy metrics.
4. The PoR-Ads Concept
PoR-Ads replaces clicks with:
Certified Temporal Recurrence.
A user must:
- return to the content,
- independently and voluntarily,
- at a different temporal window,
- with detectable semantic coherence,
- with minimum symbolic density,
- achieving PoR above the required threshold.
Only then is the event recorded as a Certified Advertising Recurrence (CAR).
5. General Architecture of PoR-Ads
The architecture contains five integrated layers:
5.1 Layer 1 — Chronon Registration
Every advertising event generates a Chronon containing:
- semantic vector,
- timestamp,
- contextual metadata,
- initial symbolic density.
5.2 Layer 2 — Return Detection
If the user returns:
- after several hours or days,
- without artificial stimulus,
- organically,
a new Chronon is recorded.
5.3 Layer 3 — HXS Calculation
Recurrence strength is computed from:
- vector similarity,
- semantic coherence,
- temporal intensity,
- non-redundancy,
- narrative continuity.
5.4 Layer 4 — PoR Validation
A recurrence is certified if:
PoR ≥ θ
with θ ∈ [0.60, 0.85].
5.5 Layer 5 — ɧ Settlement
The advertiser pays ɧ per validated recurrence, not per click.
This eliminates:
- artificial traffic,
- bots,
- click-farms,
- impression fraud.
6. Recurrence Value (RV) Formula
Value is attributed not to clicks but to certified recurrence:
RV = αHXS + βPoR + γD − ρA
Where:
- HXS = temporal recurrence strength,
- PoR = recurrence significance,
- D = symbolic density,
- A = automatism (penalty),
- α, β, γ, ρ = protocol weights.
If RV ≥ threshold, the creator is paid in ɧ.
7. Security Properties
7.1 Anti-Bot
Bots cannot produce semantic recurrence.
7.2 Anti-Farm
Artificial repetition fails PoR certification.
7.3 Anti-Manipulation
The system rewards depth, not impulsive behavior.
7.4 Anti-Superficiality
Shallow interactions do not generate Chronons.
8. Immediate Applications
8.1 Video Platforms
YouTube, TikTok, Reels: advertising shifts from views to recurrence.
8.2 Social Networks
Posts with organic return patterns become more valuable.
8.3 Gaming
Players revisiting narrative elements generate economic activity.
8.4 Education
Learning measured by meaningful recurrence, not watch time.
8.5 Creator Economy
Creators are compensated for long-term impact rather than viral volatility.
9. Economic Benefits
For advertisers:
- reduced fraud,
- higher signal reliability,
- measurable impact.
For creators:
- revenue tied to quality and depth,
- sustainable incentive structure.
For platforms:
- elimination of bot-dependent economics,
- enhanced trust systems,
- a post-CPC model centered on authentic engagement.
10. Blockchain Integration
PoR-Ads integrates naturally with:
- Ethereum,
- Rollups and L2s,
- Starknet (ZK-PoR),
- Solana,
- Cosmos SDK,
- Polygon,
- Base.
Each certified recurrence generates:
PoR_Proof = {hash, score, timestamp, validator_signature}
Allowing:
- immutable verification,
- transparent auditing,
- settlement in ɧ,
- oracle-based reliability.
11. Conclusion
PoR-Ads v1.0 redefines digital advertising by:
- replacing fragile metrics with certified recurrence,
- eliminating systemic fraud,
- rewarding meaningful engagement,
- creating verifiable symbolic value,
- establishing a post-speculative economic layer.
PoR-Ads is a natural evolution of the XChronos framework, linking:
time → recurrence → meaning → value → on-chain settlement.
